Rewinding restores function and reliability. Exact replication of original factory tone cannot be guaranteed, especially on older or modified pickups. If structural damage exceeds viable restoration limits, a new CrystalTone build may be recommended.
CrystalTone Rewind & Restoration Service
At CrystalTone, a rewind is never simply a rewind.
Each pickup that arrives at our workshop carries its own history — wear, contamination, aging components, and often underlying faults that extend far beyond the coil itself. Before any winding begins, every unit undergoes a meticulous inspection, cleaning, and structural restoration process.
Corrosion is removed. Magnets are evaluated and recharged if required. Coil integrity, insulation, and lead connections are carefully rebuilt to ensure long-term reliability — not just functionality.
In many cases, this level of restoration demands significantly more time and precision than producing a new pickup set. Where a new build begins with perfect materials, a rewind requires us to carefully recover and preserve what already exists — without compromising tone or character.
Our goal is not merely to make your pickup work again, but to bring it back to its intended voice — or beyond it.
This is restoration. Not repair.
Each rewind is treated as a bespoke project, approached with the same attention to detail as our custom-built pickups.
